On Thursday November 3rd, FCCLA members Jalynn Baumann and Lauryn Melcher made and served a homemade meal to show our appreciation to the volunteer firemen of the Genoa Community. They used FCS skills learned in Culinary Arts to make a meal of chili, chicken noodle soup, and homemade cinnamon rolls. The skills demonstrated included use of leavening agents to make cinnamon rolls, making roasted chicken stock from scratch, knife skills, and knowledge of equivalents and converting yields. The Culinary Arts and Adult Living classes partnered with members to assist in the process of making food.
Twin River Elementary students wrote thank you’s to the fire department to demonstrate their appreciation for all of the volunteer hours the fire department puts into the community, including teaching the kids about fire safety week.
More than 25 volunteer firemen were served the meal and enjoyed it immensely based on interview feedback. Twin River FCCLA would like to thank the Genoa Fire Department for their continued support of our organization and the time and energy that they put into the community.
